Changes for Nordic
We began this journey in 2018 when we launched Nordic IT, a managed services product provided by Nordic PC, Inc. Now, in 2024, we’re bringing IT forward and will be known as Nordic IT Solutions. You can still just call us “Nordic” if you like, as many folks do, but this change was to show our commitment to more than just PCs. We do way more than build computers for our clients. For most of them, we are their full IT solution. We provide reliable tools that solve problems with collaboration, productivity, accountability, and planning. All of this rolls up into our mission: to build resilient communities through business-to-business IT solutions.
I believe that small businesses are the most important part of a community. They provide the services and jobs to the people that live there. Without small business, we wouldn’t have excellent restaurants like The Local, The Cardinal, and Cobo, just to name a few. We wouldn’t have the people who help us care for our pets at The Pet Place or Animal Hospital of Boone. We wouldn’t be the destination that we are without country clubs like Hound Ears, Linville Ridge, and Beech Mountain Club. Without our local governments at the towns of Seven Devils, Beech Mountain, and West Jefferson, we wouldn’t have the infrastructure that we use every day. Our non-profits like OASIS, The Children’s Council, and W.A.M.Y. directly give back to the community, often times with the tightest of budgets. And those entities wouldn’t be able to operate efficiently without the Internet, email, phones, computers, laptops, or software that they use every day.
More so, the people that work at our small businesses are some of the most resilient people I’ve ever known. They don’t have publicly traded stocks or big investors to bank roll them when times are tough. They have to work with what they have and continue to provide the services that we need no matter what comes at them. We all experienced this in some way during the pandemic, some much more so than others. Yet we all dug in, learned what that Teams thing is that has been on my computer that we never opened, and figured out a way to persevere.
I’d like to think that our solutions were a part of that perseverance and that the foundations that we had laid for our clients made it easier for them to work from home, communicate with their teammates and clients, and keep on top of things. A lot of those lessons are still in use today, with some clients embracing hybrid work so we can spend more time with our kids. We all have had a video conference, either on Teams, Zoom, or Google Hangouts, and that’s not going away anytime soon. I haven’t signed a contract with a pen in years, and all of these tools have helped me get more done in less time.
Nordic IT Solutions has a vision of the High Country and our surrounding communities being strong and resilient to changes that are happening all around us. With low unemployment, good paying jobs, and our hiking trails and parks being the crown jewel of our area. We hope that you’ll work with us to build that vision into a reality.
